Asked by Linda S
There a few positions open for a roustabout, pipeline technician, compressor mechanic trainee and a roustabout gang pusher. Does anyone know what these positions are and what qualifications are needed?

Yes I do, I work in "The Oil-Industry" and A Roustabout IS basically A Maintenance Person: Cleans Locations, Build/Repair Fences, Installs and Services Equipment. Gang-Pusher IS "Lead-Man," He Lines Out His Crews for Daily-Jobs, Supervises, Is The Go-To: between The Customer, and His Company (crew). Pipeline Tech, Is just that! Has to know/understand Blue-Prints, Flow, Pressure, Different Types of Pumps used, The Tech aspects of Production, and 50+ other Duties/Responsibilities of ensuring Steady Flow of Gas, Oil, and Refinery Process', Compressor Mech Trainee is just that, they ensure that Compressors/Pumps are working, do routine maintenance, repair/install compressors/pumps. Chesapeake IS "A Major" (Lead Oil Company, like Exxon/Mobil, Connoco, Marathon, Phillips, Chevron) they ARE A Good Company, and LIKE ALL Others they Want/Need Good Employees! Due to "The Nature" (Danger, Technical) of "The Industry" they "Prefer" Experienced "Hands" to do "Testing" (Many Qualifications Needed) even for Roustabouts (not as many as Pipeline Tech, Mechanic) because you ARE around "Gas" (Oil, Natural Gas, H2S) High Pressures, Equipment, Harsh Working Conditions: Weather, Long Hours, Deadlines... So much more! Mostly It IS Safety! Anything in "The Patch" (Oil-Field) Kills! Fun, Rewarding Job? Yes, it is! Does your Son-In-Law have any College, Trade School, or License(s)? That WILL Help him a little if he has NO Experience. These Companies DON'T Pay Darn-Good Wages, for NOTHING! They Pay 'Em beause "A Good-Hand" EARNS Every-Bit of it; that's why they WANT/NEED The Best! When I "Broke-Out" (Started Working) in "The Patch" 30 Yrs. ago, we DIDN'T Have All of The Testing and on-going education of today, so It wasn't as Safe as it is today. But, I CAN say this; if he chooses an "Industry" career, he can take a few classes at a Junior College, Trade School, or start working for "A Service Company" who do work for "The Majors" so he can get The Experience to try and "Hire-On" with "A Major" to better his chances! We ALL have to start at The Bottom, and EARN our way; No one WILL give it to you. I've EARNED all of mine, and Work for "A Major" myself; and did It The hard Way, from The Bottom-Up! I worked for "Service Companies" to get experience, and to Prove that I was "A Hand" (DARN-GOOD Worker) so that got me in the door to work and EARN my Pay, Title, and Value in our company! Tell your Son-In-Law that if he WANTS this, he can do-it by earning it through School (Degree), working at The Bottom while Learning and Gaining The Experience, to Increase his chances 100 fold. Actions Speak Louder than Words, in anything that we do. I HOPE this Helps you and He to decide and TAKE ACTION to better his future? Good-Luck! Now get out there and "Make A Hand!" Show 'Em your value!

If he doesn't even know what the positions are I would guess he needs more qualifications that he has to be hired for one.
