Medical Office Employment?
Asked by redding2779
My friend and I got degrees in Medical Office Administration and we're both able to work in any hospital or medical office either in the office itself, doing medical transcription, or medical coding. There are two big hospitals and many medical offices around here but NEITHER one of us can get a job.
We've checked the hospitals and one of them 'hires up' from dining room to housekeeping and they won't even look at our resume. The other hospital outsources positions that aren't nursing/doctors etc and they won't tell us where to start. Temp agencies won't give us a chance since our only experience is our internship. The other medical offices have iterally handed us back our resumes and said they weren't hiring OR we can't even get the receptionist to let us talk to the HR. I've made it through a few 'first' interviews at two places where I got lucky enough to get a call, but that was it. My friend is stuck in second-interview-land.
I spent a week in the psych wing at one of the hospitals two years ago and my friend had a child endangerment charge against her four years ago - could this be why no one will give us a chance?

No, these job are difficult to land. Theres not many out there. I am a Medical Assistant and it took me 2 years to get a job after graduation. Just keep handing out resumes and looking at the Dept of Labor for your area. It will work out!
Good Luck!
