How do I become a faster and better cashier?
Asked by Just Me
I am working at target and I've finished my 2nd day there. I'm a cashier and I'd like to become faster and better at bagging (sometimes i put too much or too little) and transactions. I know I'm still new there, but do you have any advice for me?

Your attitude is impressive. I have seen few people being so proactive. You are already ahead.
Let's park the 'faster' bit for the time being.
The first three things are
1) Accuracy
2) Promptness
3) Responsiveness
If your system allows you to have a register in 'training' mode, practice the keys and other steps after or before your shift.
Take all available reading material home and memorize key information.
Walk around the store and become familiar with the items that are being sold
Talk to any staff member who is more knowledgeable than you are.
The 'fast' will come automatically when you get good at what you are doing
Congratulations

Watch and talk to the people that work around you. Ask them for advice, I'm sure they will help. And stay at Target, It's a great place to work!

Watch your peers. Wait for the customer to place a good amount of thier items on the belt, before you start the transation. Your ring rates will improve once you know where the tags are.
It's your 2nd day... If you are eager to learn, it will be easy for for you to learn new skills :)

It just comes with time. For just asking this question, though, you can know that a great interest in improvement is, in itself, improvement.
