I think I have been scammed?
Asked by lovingthrill
Actually, I am certain I have been. I have been looking for a job and I got this thing to be a health services advisor. I decided to give my resume and stuff and then it started to ask about online universities and getting out of debt. I google the site and they are a scam. I haven't found out what exactly happens after they scam you I just googled them and saw all of their alias. I don't know what to do. Is this the damage has been done kind of thing? The site was healthandbeautycareers.com

With the long term solicitations, both on the Internet and by direct mail, the effect is relative to your definition of damage. If part of the "stuff" was cash, recovery is not likely. If it was bank information, you need to close those accounts. These criminals don't go to this much trouble to get information and not use it. If they only have your social security number, check your accounts frequently for transactions you did not make. Some here may recommend you enroll in a credit monitoring program. The only strategy worse than creating a debt to pay a debt, is creating a debt for a loss that has yet to happen. The Al Gore green scam has completed our conversion to advertised purchases based on fear rather than logic or need. Fortunately, since anonymity requires high volume coverage, your potential for inconvenience is much more likely than an actual cash loss. Good Luck.

What exactly have you given them besides your resume? If you have provided your social security number, you need to take immediate steps to prevent any identity theft. Go to this site: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/ From what you have said, I don't think you have been scammed in that you haven't lost any money. Just use more care in the future and do your research BEFORE you give them any information. Good luck.

You've been sucked into a spam nightmare. The best solution is to change your email address. Same thing happened to my wife.
