What are the stairways called in commercial concrete buildings?

I can't remember the proper name the construction industry has for them. I do know that they are the strongest parts on the building though...

Enclosed stairwells. Unenclosed stairwells, such as atrium or lobby structures, would not have the reinforced integrity you referenced.
