When should an individual should start applying for the federal government jobs?

I graduate in Dec. and I really want to get a job with the Federal Government upon graduation. I know that it is a long process with security clerance and everything but when should I start to possibly gain employment after graduating.

Start applying now for any job you are qualified for, unless the job says that the start date is immediate or well before your graduation date.

Have you considered a student internship/work study program as a student?
www.thejobpage.gov is the federal website - this would be a great start, whether you stayed in that agency or used it as a stepping stone.
www.usajobs.gov is the federal website for all gov't jobs - start now, get registered and familiar with the questions/answers they will be looking for. You can always practice with any announcement, just don't submit your application.
Being a college graduate sometimes is enough, sometimes they want more. A master's degree is required for GS-9 and up, or you work your way up.
