"Contract to Hire position" do you support it ?

I currently have a permanent job in a small company with decent pay, recently a big company has offered a contract to hire job for six months, they say this period is for evaluation and if the performance is good they would hire. This job is backed up by another agency where I will be a fulltime employee till the contract period ends with their client . Should I take the risk ? They pay is almost same, should I go for a brand name?

If there is greater opportunity with the new company and you are confident in your ability then consider it. If the opportunity is not ehre I would keep your current job. Assuming the opportunity is there I would talk to your old boss about it. That will do two things for you. It will let them know you are goal and success oriented. If you get it they will no why and that is helpful to managers and leaders for lots of reasons. They might also try and keep you and create more oppotunity for you which is the best of both worlds.

If you know that you can be a real asset to this new company, I say go for it, but if you know that during the probation period you'll be slackin' off or not working properly, just stay at the job you have now.

Hmmm...YES I do support "contract to hire" opportunities b/c it's the employers way to protect themselves from hiring people who won't work out rightoff the bat...do you think there would be much benefit to working there? How much difference is it in the pay? Are there positions you can aspire to have in a couple months? Put it on paper all the pro's and con's to stay and leave your current position! I can say this might help your resume to have a brand name on it...

Contract to hire is their way of prolonging the evaluation period beyond a simple interview. The company can see your work and then decide. If you are good at what you do, don't worry, you will get hired. If you are not a great worker, or don't get along well with people, you should keep what you have.
