Medical assistant or Clinical laboratory technician ?
Asked by hotmx3
I am looking into going back to school and I'm undecided between Medical assistant and Clinical laboratory technician. Which one has a better salary? Which one would you consider a better choice?

I can't speak for your area of the country. In my city there are over 700 too many graduates per year for the advertised positions for MAs. Also none of the 50 US states have a requirement that a clinic hire an MA who has attended a school or has a certification. You will find that the Clinical Laboratory Technician has more potential for advanced education with advancement in the lab sector.

Clinical lab techinician has a higher pay and more challenging. You work more independently. Medical assistant is an assistant...assisting someone else. Therefore, you don't have much control on what to do next--people tell you what to do next and expect you to assist them all the time. There's not much room to grow (unless you are planning to become a office manager) and pay is not as high. Depends on what you prefer. They are both good jobs. :)
