I started out in a nsg home and went to home health 2yrs later. I only had a handful of pt's in home health vs a wing of 20-40pts in a nsg home. The duties in home health are usually lighter , less stressful and less back breaking. The pay was more in home health. You usually pick and choose your assignments. The draw backs are that when you are in home health, you are on your own. There isn't always a nurse visiting at the time you are there, so if you question anything you have to make a judgement call . Another thing to consider is animals. Lots of home-health people have pets of some sort. If you have severe allergies or are afraid of animals, home health could be a negative experience. You may also get an eye opener to different life-styles that you are not acustomed to. The pt range is also diverse in home health. (Peds-adolescents-adults-geriatrics). Also drive time and mileage needs to be considered. I think home health is fantastic!

Well if everyone is telling you home health, try it. Don't mean you can't go back to a nursing facility
