To me, the idea is not to overdress/ under dress. Dress for the job you are applying. If you are applying for a clerk position then you shouldn't wear a suit (male). Wear normal business attired, long sleeve ironed shirt, cotton ironed long pants. I would suggest light blue/ white shirt with dark blue/ dark brown trousers, black formal shoes. For a girl, I would suggest the same, but with a formal skirt at your knee high (not above), below the knee is ok. Just my 2 cents from interviewing people. Dress right for the task reflects your attitude towards tackling issues

Assuming that you are in the US, a suit. If you are female, a suit with a skirt or slacks, jacket and blouse. If you are male, a suit with a dress shirt and tie. Even in work environments that are business casual, applicants are expected to wear suits to interviews. More casual clothes are okay if you're applying for a job at Target or McDonald's, but not in a business environment. Dressing casually suggests that you don't take the job seriously or have much respect for the interviewer...or yourself. If everyday attire at the office is less formal, you can always wear business casual after you are hired. But err on the side of caution, at the interview.

Since it is the business/finance field, I would give the standard advice of conservative business attire....A suit with a plain color blouse/button down shirt, and closed toe shoes with a low to medium heel.
