I am planning on taking the pharmacy technician course at Penn Foster. Is it worth the money and time?
Asked by vitaly5887
I am interested in the pharmacy technician course at Penn Foster and wonder if anybody who is taking it or took the course before can give me a heads up on what to expect. Is it worth the time, money and effort. And how much does it cost for the whole course? After taking the course, are you eligible to work in the pharmacy department?

Find out what your state requires. You should be able to find this information through your state pharmacy licensing board. Or, just ask a tech at your local pharmacy what they had to do. Most places require you've taken and passed a pharmacy tech course and passed the CPHT exams. Some states also require you to be licensed in their state. I have worked in AZ, NM, AK and TX. After 18 years, the most I ever made was $12/hr.

My friend took a course through penn foster and after she finished it she found out that employeers dont look at it as a degree or certificate because its not valid in all states. Before you sign up call a phramacy where you live and ask if they look at it as a valid learning experience and make sure its accredited too.
