How do I get started in finding a job as an occupational health and safety specialist?
Asked by Layla
I am interested in knowing HOW to get a job as a occupational health and safety inspector/specialist. I have a B.S. in Health Administration, recent grad, and think I would like the work. I prefer to be able to inspect Hospitals and Health care facilities. Any suggestions.

If you want to inspect hospitals -- do a web search for consulting companies that do that kind of work. Join any of the professional societies that cover hospitals. If you are interested in occupational/industrial safety, you should review the American Society of Safety Engineers' website at www.asse.org and look for a local chapter in your state or area. Go to a meeting. Meet the people and tell them that you are looking for work. Ask for their business card and give them yours. Don't have a business card -- go to the local quick print shop and buy about 250 -500 business cards with your name, address, telephone (and cell phone) and your email address. This way you will look professional. Also, use a professional email address like jdoe@xyz.com not cowboyjoe@xyz.com
