How difficult is to get job at the post office?
Asked by argengarvin
I'd like to know how difficult is to get an application at the post office, I am citizen and I get my GED certificate. I have some disabilities and I can not lift very much weight. Could be this an impediment to work there ?

If I remember correctly you can ask for a job application by post although sometimes main post offices - if there are any left - have application forms in the store. Disabilities can be a problem but it depends on which type of work in the post office you are applying for. If you wish to deliver mail then it could be a problem because lots of the deliveries now involve parcels and some of these are quite heavy. If you wish to work in the sorting office then the disabilities should not be a problem. The best thing to do is contact Royal Mail directly and advise them of the health problems that you suffer from and I am sure that they will be able to advise you on the telephone what you will and will not be able to do. I am sure that there is a rule with all jobs these days that you cannot be turned down a job due to disabilities as long as it does not interfere with the work that you have applied to do. Contact them and find out. Good luck

I took the test, it is very difficult. If you are a veteran you have a leg up and can get on with them more easily. Good Luck!
