I am a Electrical Engineer major at LSU. I want to minor in technical sales, but would that be wasting time?

I'm going into my junior year. 3.1 GPA but never had an internship so electrical engineering experience yet. The only reason I want to minor in technical sales is if it can help land me a job as a technical consulter when i finish with college just incase I have trouble initially finding a job in electrical engineering.

If you are going into your junior year, you have plenty of time for a Co-op / internship or just get experience. If you want to land a job in technical sales think about what an employer would like to see. First will be a resume and second a good interview, as you must be outgoing, a good speaker and not afraid of those higher on the ladder than you are.
I am a Junior at UF and minoring in Sales Engineering. I work at Best Buy while I am in school to get the sales part down. I have done a Co-op for GE appliances to get the engineering/ manufacturing part down. Next summer I plan to do one for a computing company so I get a little background in electrical hardware.
From what I have seen, you shouldn't have much of a hard time getting a job, however, filling your resume with good points will usually get you more job offers to choose from.

Actually lots of engineers are hired to go into sales but you have to basically like to deal with people just as much as technology,
And what do you mean you have no experience. You get experience by doing all kinds of cool stuff on your own. If you are not enough into engineering to design and build stuff on your own, maybe sales is the best place for you.
