It depends on the employer, and what the misdemeanor was for. If you were convicted of a drug offense, or prostitution, you are unlikely to be hired as a hotel front desk clerk. They just can't take the chance. If it's a driving offense, then sure. Small employers, especially small businesses, can basically do whatever they want -- so they might be more likely to hire you. You should also look into having your record expunged, if that is legal in your state.
