Gabe
Applied to a job for Security Guard, will train me, please help
Asked by Gabe
am really looking forward to a degree in law enforcement and hope to become a cop soon, and thought this would be a great starting point. its 18 an hour minimum and they are going to train me for the job. What do Security guards do? Are they in uniforms? do they have cuffs, guns, mace, batons, ect like a regular officer? Anything else about what a security guard does would be great. The position is to work at a manufacturing company in Corpus Christi Texas Thanks for the answers people. They are hiring for Armed and un armed people, so ill see if i can get trained to be an armed guard. thanks again and ill try to make sure that ill get a job and not just pay for training

be careful, a lot of places claim to "hire" you when all they do is train you, charge you for it and make a feeble attempt at getting you a job. i went through this, paid for training and didn't get a job, eventually i got another security job but it didn't recognize my training. as for the job, you basically have a note pad and maybe a flashlight. if you were an armed guard, you would need extensive training.

That guy that answered before me: Mark M. Said the same thing on my question...i don't know how trustworthy he is...it might be a scam!

these types of jobs are usually "watchmen", charged with ensuring the saftety and security of the premises. they are not armed, and don't have legal authority as law enforcement officers. However, they must be alert, trustworthy, of good character and good under pressure. It would be a good start for entering law enforcement, and nice pay as well. Good luck!
