Is Nurse Aide I the same thing as CNA I?
Asked by malonefamily6
To be able to attend my local community colleges Associate Degree Nursing Program, I have to be listed with the Division of Facility Services as CNA I prior to my application. The only courses offered at my local college are Nurse Aide I classes. Is this the same thing?

A CNA is a Certified Nursing Assistant. Also called a Nurse Aide, or Nursing Assistant. Just make sure that the course description says that you will be Certified. The main thing is to get that Certificate.
I'm a CNA.

Yes, CNA stands for Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Nurse Assistant. It is usually a 75 hour course, and it trains you to be able to assist long term care residents with activities of daily living. You will be feeding, washing, and toileting old people. They are used outside of nursing homes, but that is the type of facility that the program is designed for. Many nursing programs require it because the programs are competitive and they want to be sure that people know what they are getting into. THere are lots of nursing jobs out there but if you can't deal with cleaning up old people then you won't get through nursing school.
