What's the difference between a sales associate and a retail clerk?

I'm wondering what to call my job on a resume. I'm a cashier in various shops at a park. I work at the till, do some cleaning, provide customer service, and close out the shop at the end of the day. That wouldn't be a sales associate would it? Would it be more appropriate to say 'retail clerk'? What are the definitions of these terms? Thanks!

There is no definitive answer. You can choose either one. Me personally, and given I also hire people, I would choose the Sales Associate descriptor. Then if asked to go into detail during an interview, or while adding more detail to it on your resume---I would emphasize the "customer service" aspects of the duties you did vs. simply saying "I ran the cash register". Talk up heavy about the assistance part of that role you did, in helping customers determine what to buy. That truly is what a sales associate does. Good Luck
