Career Questions and Answers

Captain Cupid
Would a bachelors in psychology serve one who is pursuing an acting career?
Asked by Captain Cupid
This is a two point question. Would a Bachelor's in Psychology have any significance in someone who is getting into the movie business? And would studying Theater in a university help in movie acting skills? What I know about the difference between Theater and Film acting is that Theater is significantly louder and bigger so the the people in the back row can have the same experience as the people in the front row. And Film Acting is more subtle, it's almost more life like and every little detail is seen by the camera, however many takes would eliminate any mistakes anyway. Thanks for any help.

the only thing that theater would help you with are things like timing and reading cues, working with props, and your own style development in your acting. as far as the psychology is concerned, its not a bad idea to get the degree so that you have something to fall back on if acting doesn't pull through. or, you might find yourself in the future acting a role that is based on psychology. you never know, but i would go for it, both the pscyh and theater.
