What kind of draftsman makes the most money? Architecture?

I am a sophmore in highschool and i just started taking AutoCAD 1...just the beginning course...well ive always been a computer type of guy and know what im doing when it comes to computers...but, when i started taking this autocad class, i thought maybe i could go somewhere with it...i like doing it and sorta fun so...i was just wondering if i get into being a draftsman, what kind of draftsman should i be...and is Draftsman a popular job?..do alot of people do it?

Draftsman is one of the easiet roads to good money. Draftsmen generally make as much as engineers, with less college. You will need at least a two year degree in Jr. College, but more big companies are expecting a four year degree. As far as the type of draftsman, it depends where you live in the country. Arcitechture or civil engineering are the hardest fields to break into and typically lowest pay.. Auto body design has been one of the highest, but in the last two years have layed off 30% of their work force. Aircraft industry is good, but everything is contractural. Machinery design, packaging design, automation are other fields. Once you get your degree, your educational institution, should help you land your first job. Another good thing about drafting, is once you get in college, you can usually find a summer drafting job, gaining experience, and possibly enough money to pay one or both semesters doing a summer drafting job.
