Asked by Hannahツ
I don't know much about this.Im(14) Im good in English and science(stars, space, travel, earth,) That kinda science I'd also like to become a Art teacher..if thats even possible. One of those I'd like to be. Now I've heard alot about how Teachers are under paid and dis respected and what not..but starting out I would make like 30 grand a year right? Is being a teacher worth my time, would I like it.,and how much is the salary? I've looked it up on the net it says like 60 grand after working 15 yrs,but I wanna know how much I'd make starting off. Also I would have to go to college and a University right?Do I need really good grades? Is it hard? Thanks much appreciated =]

You don't become a high school teacher, or any other level teacher, for the money. You become a teacher because you are passionate about feeding the minds of youth and you believe you have the gift of bringing learning to life in a classroom. If you're looking to go into something because it is soft and easy and will earn you a lot of money to entertain all of your materialisitic whims then I'd suggest you rule out the teaching fantasy. At 14, you've got a lot of time to think about it. Now go do your homework.

They make 40k starting off. You need passing grades, probably a B average. Afte 4 years of school where you take classes in your major field along with educational classes, you then do student teaching and take a state teacher's exam. Teacher's need to get a master's degree by their 12th year. Failure to obtain a master's degree after 11 years will result in termination. Teachers get a lot of time off. summer break, winter break, spring break, etc. They work maybe 5 hours per day. They also do lesson planning from home. They get almost-free health insurance. They get a decent pension that allows them to retire fairly young.

On average high school teachers make $31,875 to $46,613 according to Salary.com. But out of all public schools teachers make $42,997 to $57,464. The numbers vary according to a number of factors though so you may want to do your own lookup. http://www.salary.com/personal/layoutscripts/psnl_default.asp
