how do you become a buyer for a retail store?

i love clothing, for some reason i always know what is going to come out next in stores way before you see it. i want to work with a retail store and pick what clothing goes into to. is there any one on here that does that that could help me get started and point me in the rite direction. thanks

There are 2 main ways that you can become a retail buyer: 1. Get an Associates or Bachelors degree in Fashion Merchandising and apply for a Jr. Buyer or similar role after graduation. (this is the most common way to go) OR 2. Work your way up the ladder with a particular store you are interested in working for such as MACYS, KOHLS, etc. You could start off as an Associate, then Asstiant Manager, then Manager, and then move up to the "corporate" side from there.
