What is the average salary of a horse wrangler in the United States?

Not sure what you really mean. Gathering horses up doesn't pay. But being a "cow hand" or farm hand pays maybe $1000-1500 a month around here though sometimes pay isn't as high but living quarters and electricity/water is paid for.
If you want to be a farmer or rancher you have to buy land and animals or crops and the equipment to provide for them. The bank will own everything you have for most if not all of your life but you will set your own hours. You will be your own boss. and you will be in charge of your own destiny....except when the economy and mother nature remind you who's really the boss.
