Is it worth it to take a job as a funeral planning counselor sales job?

I currently work in a fast food type of management job. I was wondering if it was worth it to leave it for a funeral planning counselor sales job?

Yes it's a good job. You are NOT dealing with grieving people as several posters have said. You are dealing with the healthy ones who are estate planning. And you don't need to SELL THEM UP to make a good living. Just show them the available options and even if they take the cheapest selections or even cremation you can make a good living.

Funeral planning has its rewards and that i know of it pays well since I have friends in this business. Just remember peoples emotions are involved so you to have a backbone to put up with it. Good luck. Hope u make the right decision.

Are you able to deal with crying? Fast food is stressful but dealing with death takes a huge toll on those who are not ready to see it day to day. If I were you I would take it, it's a solid steady job but one must be able to handle the outburst of emotion from strangers.

I've never seen a funeral home go out of buisiness. People will always die. Besides, going from fast food to funeral parlor, that's like seeding the clouds.

I worked in the accounting department of a cemetery. The sales people that were the most successful were very kind and understanding with the family, but they also influenced them to purchase the more expensive stuff. You have to be able to be light hearted when families are not around and serious when they are.
