Can you become a phlebotomist without previously being in a medical field?
Asked by Leah
I'm looking into getting certified in phlebotomy as it has been recommended to me by a friend who thinks I'd do good at it. I do need to get into a job as quick as I can. I'm currently in college getting ready to start my dental hygienist program but I haven't started yet. I've found 2 places I could get certified but one says that it's only available to Professional Healthcare Workers only. Is this a norm? Also is the job very stressful?

Try applying to a Laboratory, they tend to have paid training programs and you can work anywhere from a hospital, nursing facility, or even travel to a different place everyday. I did it myself with absolutely no experience. I don't find it stressful at all. The only problem I have is doing the heel sticks on newborn babies. It breaks my heart. Good luck to you.
