Do hostesses at restaurants make any tips? Do they make minimum wage?

I've worked in a few restaurants, and am currently a server/bartender at my job. I've also hosted at other places. Most places pay minumum wage, and tipshare. Tipshare is calculated by a small percentage (usually between 2-5% of what the servers sell. So if a server sells $100 of food, 3% of that is 3 dollars, which would get split among the bartender, hostess, and busser (if applicable). When I host at my job sometimes, tipshare for a night can range from $10-30 dollars a night, depending on the business. Places that pay you more than minimum wage, i.e. $7.65, probably do not pay you tipshare, but pay a set rate. Find a location of a restuarant that you would like to work at and ask a hostess what they usually make. Hostesses usually do not make alot of money, as it is considered a part time job, and most hostesses are kids still in high school, or those in college wanting some pocket change.
