It is not hard to pass as long you read carefully and study every day. If you want to make a career out it of network with people and introduce yourself to the managers at the places you might want to work. Get involved with your local state chapter of the American Health Information Management Association and if you decide to become a certified coder only certified through them as they are the most prestigious as far education and training is concerned. Coders are in demand right now BIG time, so don't sell yourself short by being an assistant. Good luck!

I am currently going for Billing and Coding and my daughter is going for Medical Assistant at the same Institue. We are both straight A students and the courses aren't hard and don't require an abundance of study. Good luck to you.
