What should I put for job title on resume if it changed from assistant manager to manager?

I'm helping someone with their resume and they were assistant manager for a certain period of time, then they became manager. What should I put for their job title on the resume? I was thinking of putting assistant manager to manager, but wasn't sure if that was okay. Also, their duties didn't change enough to make it two separate entries on the resume. Thanks

I worked at the same place for many years but held many different positions so I've had the same problem. Since you say a separate entry is not required because the duties are the same, I would just put: Manager (most recent position)
