What is the salary of an executive chef in a hotel?
Asked by craziness_oh
I heard that being an executive chef of a hotel has a decent salary, but I'm curious as to how much one makes.

The chefs that have come through the hotel/restaurant/golf resort that I work at, have made anywhere from $45,000 to $80,000 per year. Sous chefs make prob. 35- 40,000$ at the most. I would classify the restaurant at the resort I work at as 7/10. If at a "9 or 10", you would be making more than 80,000 probably. Experience, experience, experience. I thought about that myself. I've been cooking for about 8 years and have learned a lot. I haven't attended culinary school, but I might eventually.

Unless you have been to school they won't consider you a chef, but a cook, but cooks can still make a decent wage. Do the school thing and work as a cook until you graduate.
