How do I pursue a career in purchase/procurement?

I am currently employed as Purchasing Manager/Engineering Supervisor for a small engineering company in West Sussex. Although I have no qualifications I am involved in all aspects of purchase and procurement from materials to site maintenance. Due to the size of the company, my role is 'hands-on' as a necessity and I am required to be in constant communication with suppliers, customers subcontractors and workshop staff in order to purchase materials and manufacture products at the best possible cost and within tight deadlines. Although I have been in this role for under a year I believe I have learnt a great deal and would like to pursue a career in purchasing. I am hard working, intelligent, organised and well presented.

best bet would be to stay where are -- keep learning and start applying at every job opening -- sounds like you have the knowledge and desire -- all you need is an opening!!! good luck!!!
