Who decides the minimum/ maximum hours for full or part time at Walmart? Is it corporate or the facility?
Asked by Jesseh
I am in school and my manager told me I have to work 24 hours a week to stay on payroll, while I have read articles where people only work one day a week. Does the store manager decide how many hours a week "part time" is? Or are there guidelines? I never got a handbook if it's in there.

A lot of people who work at Walmart have no clue what they are talking about. I normally work about 33 hours a weeks there, but one week they only gave me 12 hours. Therefore it must be okay.

wow no one at my store works 1 day a week...usually below 32 hrs a week is part time..unless youre grandfathered in (started before 2000) then it would be below 28 hrs.there are hardly any full timers anymore thanks to the corporation except for merchandise managers and salary managers....and it shows (how many have gotten tired of the long lines and empty shelves?)anyways...have you talk to the people higher than the store managers, have you called 1-800 walmart..but we have people that are also going to school and yet are still able to work more than 24 hrs so i dont know if you have a case, also if you want to email walmart corporation the link is below
