I just got hired to be a live-in caregiver?

I am starting at $9.00 an hour, how does the pay work when your a live in. I will be there 24 hours for 3 or 4 days a week, do I get paid for all 24 hours. How does this work.
I wasn't asking when i would get paid but whether live in get paid hourly or salary.

You really do need to ask your employer these questions- Every company has a right to decide on their own "work weeks" for payroll purposes. Good luck!

Ask your employer about this, but you will most likely be paid a lump sum daily rate. That is what I'm used to seeing for live-in caregivers. Especially since you will be sleeping at the person's house. Go over the expectations with the employer before you start and make sure that you are on the same page with your wages.

There are a lot of adult family home owners in this site http://www.lifeafterworking.com. you should ask them. My guess is that they should pay you a lump sum amount.
