Some Guy
Is working in the Post Office some kind of amazing job?
Asked by Some Guy
My mother is trying to insinuate that working in the post office is supposed to be some kind of wonderful job, where you get all the benefits you can handle, you hardly do anything, and most importantly, you can't get fired because you're working for the government. Is any of this true?

Well the US post office does offer very good benefits, and the pay is very good...so i would agree with your mother.

I work for USPS, so i can answer this. Yes, the benefits and pay are good....no doubt. The work, depends. If you're a PTF, you can expect really lousy, random hours.....pretty much expect to be treated like the PO's b****....however it's worth it cause you're gettin' paid well. If you're a regular, you get stuck doing the same boring, repetitive work night after night. Yeah, it's no dream job.....but you definitely will be paid. However know this, most post offices right now are on a hiring freeze due the sorry shape of our "industry". The USPS is losing huge amounts of $$$ every year. It's sad but true. Keep a back up plan if you're lucky enough to get in.
