Do Nursing Assistants,CNA’s, Nurses Aides, Patient Care Technicians, Home Health Aides and Laboratory Technicians require New York State License in New York State?......THANKS......DAD

Best Answer:
Certified Nurses Aide(CNA) is a licensed position by the state
the others you have listed (with the exception of lab techs) are not, they are certifications offered by technical schools and are invalid for use in any short or long term care facility that provides patient care and accepts medicare.
to perform patient care in any facility that accepts medicare the CNAs must be licensed in the state of employment. licenses are maintained and administered by the states but they all meet the same federally mandated criteria.
A:
In NY state, aides and assistants do not require a license. I'm not sure about the lab tech.
Most places will ask for a certification for these jobs, however, it is not a NYS license.
Some place will do "in house training" and not require anything.
Nurses will require a license.
