BNSF mechanical management trainee question?
Asked by opster81
I have an offer to interview for a "mechanical management trainee" position with BNSF. Has anybody heard anything about this? It requires a BS in engineering (which I have). I applied about a month ago and got an offer for an interview, via email, a little while ago. It sounds like I would train for about 6 to 12 months, then work at some repair or maintenance facility. Which I think I might like. At the risk of sounding shallow, what kind of compensation might I expect? Will I be relocating a lot once I'm done training?

Make a list of your questions and seek answers from the context of the interview. Remember to let the interviewer be in charge; ask your questions (if not answered during the interview) after the interviewer is done asking you questions or telling you things about BNSF. This is their interview. Jobs have a salary range assigned to them, which range from entry level to highly experienced. Keep questions about compensation to a minimum; this sounds like your first job out of school and entry level pay is about all you can expect at this stage in your career. Make sure that your interests and the company needs are aligned; otherwise one of you will suffer. Once hired, learn, learn and learn some more. Contribute, work hard, be respectful to "older" employees, and expect more from yourself than your employer does.
