Is it Legal to fire union workers and rehire same workers to be non-union?

My question is if your working in a union workplace (as related to a building maintenance contract) and the site gets bought by a new company can they layoff and then rehire workers but as non-union? In california if relevant.

The law varies state to state as the the time frame, but yep.
You don't have to work for the new company if you don't want to.
