Asked by solidsnake
I am freshly out of the military and am thing of going to welding school for my new career. After 6 months I will be certified in: Oxyacetylene Welding ARC Welding Tungsten Inert Gas Welding MIG Welding Metal Fabrication Welder Combination Is this a good career? Is there anything else I should look into getting certified in. I live in Virgina and I am hoping to get on with gas/oil field pipe line service. What kind of money can expect to make. Also should I look into getting my own welding rig. Thanks for any help

Welding is always a good field to get into, specially if you can do pipeline work. Work for someone else for a year though before you look into getting your own rig.

I know welding at least pays well, at $15 for students straight out of high school. I don't know what it is for professionals, though.
