Most are let go, but some will be retained, depending on economy, attrition, etc. Have an excellent work history--be on time, and ready to go 15 minutes before you're due to start. Have excellent attendance record. Show a good attitude. Managers want workers who are friendly and positive with customers and with other employees. Those constantly making negative comments and complaining will not be retained. Do your job without grousing and whining. When there's nothing to do, straighten up, and take on those little extra tasks. Keep work station organized and neat, even if some one else created the clutter.
