How much can a Social Work degree help me in getting a Non-profit/NGO job?

I am interested in getting a job within the Educational/ Community Development sector. I am wondering how much getting a Social Work degree would help me in getting a job? Thanks.

Degrees and certifications will always help but, at the end, if you can't "sell" yourself and, thus, give the company a reason to hire you over your competitors, none of your degrees, certificates and any other fancy papers will help you. The main thing, however, is to ask yourself what would you really want to do and go after that instead. Otherwise, you will never truly be happy and productive.
