Is there a Dental Hygienist 'program' in Texas as opposed to a 2 year degree from a college?
Asked by Clay
My girlfriend is in a dental assisting program that provides a certificate. She wants to be a Dental Hygienist but is having trouble doing the 'college' thing. I was curious if Texas offers and programs that would provide a dental hygienist certificate instead of a degree. I believe California does... Thanks.

I doubt it, as far as I know as Alabama is the only state where you can get a "certificate" otherwise you need an associates or bachelors degree and believe me, hygiene school is tough.
I have a bachelors in dental hygiene and wouldn't want anyone without a degree cleaning my teeth!

Look into professional trade school. Make sure the school is acredited to issue certificate in Texas. She might be able to graduate in less time. But if she has already gone through months in college, it might be worth it for her to stick it through. A degree from a college on the resume has more weight than a trade school, for many years to come.
