That's a sales job, probably an outside sales job. You are probably selling to existing accounts and generating new ones. Typical duties will be telemarketing, cold calls, sales call, proposal and report writing and data entry, lots of data entry. You should expect to spend at least three days a week - solid - making cold calls. You would also have to problem solve with existing accounts. They always have problems and they want their account manager to solve them.

You would probably be looking after a set number of clients and their business needs for the products your company manufactures or sells. It is a sales based job but with no sourcing new leads.

A:
It can depend on the profession in which the account manager is working. What I suggest is that you go to any major job search site, like hotjobs, or monster, and type in account manager - you will get a list of all the available account manager jobs, and if you see the details, you will find out what the job responsbilities are. If you are interested in a specific industry, like healthcare, marketing, technology, etc., you could include that in the keyword search to narrow down the results.
