Is it reasonable to ask for every other weekend off?
Asked by emilee1889
I have an interview at a department store next week and I was wondering that if it was reasonable to ask for every other weekend off? I am available all days every week anytime. Do you think it's reasonable to ask this?

Best Answer:
yes.. some people are only available on the weekend and they should be able to cover you.

During holiday season, store management needs more staffs during weekend due to store traffic. If you want to keep such position, you know what to do.

1st see what they offer you. Don't insist before you find out their terms.

I would bring the matter up with the potential employer, telling them you have a personal matter to tend to every other weekend. You would have to state this, rather than ask - asking would imply that you've been working there and are NOW asking to only work every other weekend.
On the other hand, telling a potential employer this might deter them from hiring you because if they need you - they're hiring you because they need people who are reliable to be in on a regular basis. Unless this is a company that can hire someone else to cover those shifts, I would make it clear that those are the days you can work.
Good luck.
