What is the best way to get a nursing job without experience?
Asked by Hey Girl 775
I am an RN that graduated 4 years ago. I took a job at a pharmaceutical company because I wasn't sure if hospital nursing was for me. What is the best way to try to get back into bedside nursing?

I would ask if any of the hospitals in your area have a transition internship for nurses moving from non direct patient care positions to direct care.
I believe there are some courses that cover transition issues with type 1 CEUs with nursing education providers and you may consider contacting your state board of nursing for suggestions and assistance with the transition.
Good luck.

I have a friend with the same problem you have. The best way is to contact your local hospitals HR department and let them know u want to be a RN again.

Apply. In my area, the hospitals are desperate for RNs.

It's probably not as hard as you think because everyone is so desperate for nurses.

You should try and look for jobs that are like float nursing, or looking at going on a registry at a local hospital for on call or casual work. This would allow different departments and for you to get a sample of what work is offerred.

I agree with mtwaites, start casually sample a few different areas and see which takes your fancy. You are still registered as a RN so you are qualified, all new jobs will have an orientation period for you to learn the routine of the ward/unit so there is no reason you shouldn't get work.
