Teaching is Always a good replacement career for someone experienced in a field like that. He can continue with what he is comfortable with and influence the future of repair techs

A:
He could teach at a trade school and help the new generations of repair people to learn the proper procedures. He could also work at a business that makes repair manuals for different cars and trucks like haynes for example.

Alex E was spot on! He should contact a local community college to see if they need any mechanic/auto repair teachers or even consulting positions for the apprenticeship programs they have at colleges. he could also contact local high schools, but usually you need a teaching degree/certificate for working in a high school.
