Im probably FIRED from my job but i have an interview tomorrow!!!!!!?
Asked by pink_panther0987
Ok so i have been miserably unemployed for the past two months and got hired at walmart as a temp worker recently. i went through BORING orientation and all. today was my first day and they sent me home saying i cant where khaki bermuda shorts, only capris and pants ( They didnt say no bermudas before, only to make sure its khaki) anyways, they sent to home to get some, i dont have money nor any khaki pants. I have a target distribution center interview tomorrow paying twice what walmart pays. i know you shouldn't quit a job until u get another but walmart ain't for me and im sure im gonna get hired. should i go back tomorrow or not....O and i couldn't even call in cuz the line was busy for 4 hours straight and i couldn't talk to a manager.

Normally I would tell you to be a pro and stick it out for your two weeks, but it doesn't seem that the company is treating you very professionally so they have no reason to expect professionalism in return. I don't think you owe them anything - you aren't going to put this job on a resume, and you don't need a reference from them. I'd say call your manager (if you can get through!), tell him/her the job isn't for you and ask when you can pick up your last check. Best of luck in the new job!

Yes you should go back in and give your 2 weeks like you are suppose to.

If you are old enough to even have a job, you should know that you don't wear shorts, even Bermuda shorts, to a job unless they say it's OK. Good luck with the Target interview. And by the way, while you wouldn't be able to wear shorts if you were working in a store, you might be able to in a distribution center - but ASK FIRST.

I remember a job where they made me spend $70 on 2 pairs of khakis just to let me know that they didn't need me after I had worn the pants already. Remember that Target might also require Khaki pants so you might as well get them and stick to walmart till you are sure you have the Target job.

I hope you don't go for the Target interview wearing the Bermuda shorts. Any jobs which involve customer contact would require employees to be wearing clean and appropriate attire. You are not going to the beach for fun and play. You are going to work. Where's your common sense? Or you don't know what the common sense is. As to your question, go back tomorrow and work if they accept you. Don't leave your job irresponsibly because these bad behaviors will catch up to you in the near future.
