Anyone employed as a Construction Mgr. in the Wind Power field?
Asked by thom-dot-com
I am considering a career move to become a Construction Mgr for wind farms, but would like an honest assessment of just what it takes (beyond the CM degree) to cut it in this field, and is compensation comparable to the Construction industry?

I have three very good friends that work in the wind farm industry. The construciton manger makes very very good money. The workers do well...as well. Tons of travel.....but the down side is for the "workers" is down time between jobs. It can be immediate move to a new place or weeks between jobs. The manager stays on salary. They pay travel expenses worth your while too. I have heard the wind crews referred to as the new "oil rigger crews" of our time. They also say long, hard hours....but the money is awesome.

I unearthed the site in the box below during the last couple of weeks when I was searching for a fresh career. I was in a dead-end job but I wasn't certain what I wanted to do or how to get there. The instruction on the site helped me to settle on my fresh career, and gave me some excellent thoughts about how to start.
