It is going to depend on the type of office you will be in. My friend is going through a divorce and has hired a very "fancy" law office-every female staff member is always dressed in a suit. I am in a paralegal program now, and there are people in my class who work in law firms. One of them has to wear a suit, but most wear nice pants, blouses and dress shoes, but nothing really fancy. I interviewed for a job in a law office where people were dressed casually-no jeans, but things like polo shirts and khakis. It can vary a lot. Your best bet is to show up the first day wearing a very nice outfit, maybe even a pants suit. You will then be able to tell what people are wearing. Make sure you are always conservative, stay away from anything too trendy because you never know who you will meet during the day. There will be clients who appreciate conservative dress. You really want to stick to blacks, blues, greys, etc and maybe through in subtle color. Obviously, if your office is less conservative, you can adjust as necessary. Good luck!
