Is it legal for a supervisor to give overtime to one shift, then deny another shift?
Asked by rainwalker
I live in Ohio and work second shift. My supervisor gave first shift overtime, but when second shift asked for overtime we were told no. No explanations, just no. There is a lot of favoritism between shifts with this supervisor. Is this legal?

Yes it's legal. It might or might not be fair, but it isn't illegal.

I think it depends upon what the needs of the shifts are. Some shifts need more overtime than other based on demand. If you are unclear approach her one on one for an explanation. Good Luck!
