What kind of certifications do I need to work in a hospital?
Asked by Stacey M
I would like to get my foot in the door at a hospital and then while I am working, go to nursing school. I know that many jobs require certification. I was wondering what are some of the certifications one can get, what kind of technical jobs are there that don't require a college education yet? Where is a good place to start? Thank you.

Best Answer:
Ward clerk, ER registration, etc don't require certificates. Anything that touches a patient or provides a therapeutic service needs a certificate or a license. Some of the simpler ones are (with respect to time committment) CNA, phlebotomist; then the less than one year to 1 year programs like pharm tech, medical lab technician, physical therapy aid etc. Go over to a hospital & take a look at their job postings to get an idea of what is needed.
