My CNA job keeps putting me on a different hall?
Asked by naughtycna
I am currently a CNA at a Rehab/Nursing home, and sometimes they float you to a different hall, and so they have been putting me on a hall where the other CNA's yell at you, makes you cry because they are soo rude to you. I have complained but nothing happens about it. I am on that hall again tomorrow so I am already upset about it. There are no other CNA places hiring right now to get away from it. What would you do?

go to work and do your job to the best of your ability......... the residents count on you and depend on you, they are there because they can not care for themselves. your job is by far the HARDEST job there is bar none. it is physically demanding, grossly underpaid, under-appreciated and can be the most rewarding job that can be done. continue to make your concerns known to the staffing coordinator, the ADON, the DON and on up to the administrator if need be. always remember the residents are all that matters and above all ensure they receive proper care. bless you for the job you do!

I worked in a nursing home for 13 yrs before I went to nursing school. I graduated and now work as a RN in a supervisory position in a hospital. Looking back at my CNA days, I remember the LPN's just treating me like crap. They would order me around, talk about me to other LPN's and basically treated me terrible. They would get in cohoots with the other CNA's on the floor, do me dirty and make me do all the work while they went out for cigarettes and all kinds of other things. When I went to college to be an RN, one of those LPN's was in RN classes with me. She just must not have been as great as she thought she was because the last time I seen her, she was working at a gas station as an attendant and she tried to take her nursing RN exam a couple of times and couldnt pass. Somehow her LPN license was suspended. If she were working under me now and did the things she did to me back then, I would terminate her and turn the nursing home in because they were all outside smoking while I was in the building watching 4 halls. The nursing home will not do anything about the people who are treating you badly because they are desperate for help. They are short staffed like all nursing homes and just want there body there to account for the number of patients they have. Stick to your guns and dont get upset. Explain to your supervisor you know they need help, but you are working under a lot of stress and its affecting your ability to do your job. If the supervisor doesnt do anything to make your work environment better, then find another job.

Go to management and explain that you don't mind being moved, but the behavior and comments coming from the other CNA's is unacceptable in the workplace. Let them deal with it. You should never feel uncomfortable at your job, but unfortunately in nursing homes there are cliques of people like this who complain about everything because they're miserable minimum wage workers. Then, the RN's think they are better than the LPN's, and LPN's think they're better than the CNAS. Its so stupid. It will always be that way in a work place where its nothing but women. Stick it out, or find a new job. CNA's are in demand and it shouldn't be so hard.
